Laura Petrescu, lawyer, GreenLaw & Green Community 

Topic: “Legal Frameworks for Circular Economy Implementation in Romania”

Description: Laura will discuss the legal aspects and regulatory frameworks that support the implementation of circular economy principles in Romania. She will address current legislation, gaps in legal structures, and opportunities for enhancing legal support for circular business practices. Her insights will be crucial for understanding how legal frameworks can facilitate or hinder the adoption of circular economy models.

Laura Petrescu is a managing lawyer with extensive experience in environmental law and public policy. Her legal background includes a Master’s degree in Internal and International Environmental Law and a diploma in English Law. As a Climate Pact Ambassador, she works on advancing sustainability through legal expertise and advocacy.

Topic: “Bridging Theory and Practice: Real-World Applications of Circular Economy Principles”

Description: Raul will examine the discrepancies between theoretical circular economy models and their practical applications. He will provide case studies and real-world examples from Romania, discussing the challenges and successes experienced in implementing these models. His focus will be on practical strategies for overcoming barriers and achieving effective circular economy practices.

Raul Pop is a seasoned expert in sustainability and circular economy with experience in both public policy and corporate governance. He has held significant roles in various organizations, including as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment and Managing Director of RECOLAMP. His expertise includes waste management, green economy, and strategic development.

Lorita Constantinescu

Topic: “Integrated Solutions: Social and Circular Economy Business Models That Work”*

Description: Lorita will present effective strategies that combine social economy principles with circular economy frameworks. She will highlight successful Romanian examples of how these integrated models not only create green jobs and promote sustainable practices but also address pressing social issues. By showcasing practical implementations, she will illustrate how these models can be scaled and adapted for broader application.

Lorita Constantinescu has three decades of experience in management and civil society development across Romania and Central-Eastern Europe. As Deputy General Manager of Ateliere Fara Frontiere, she has been a key advocate for circular economy principles. Her background includes a Master’s degree in Public Policy and MBA Certificate, with extensive experience in integrating disadvantaged individuals into the workforce through innovative enterprises.

Ioana Petrescu, Center for Leadership and Innovation (SNSPA) and Pur si Simplu Verde  

Topic: “Circular Economy in Space: Expanding Sustainable Practices Beyond Earth”*

Description: Ioana will explore how circular economy principles can be applied to the growing space industry, addressing challenges such as the sustainable management of space hardware and debris. She will discuss the potential for recycling and reusing space components and the need for regulatory frameworks that support these practices. Her presentation will bridge the gap between Earth-based circular strategies and their adaptation for space, emphasizing the broader implications for sustainability and innovation in space exploration.

Ioana Petrescu heads the Center for Leadership and Innovation at SNSPA in Bucharest. She is also the President of Pur si Simplu Verde and an EU Climate Pact Ambassador. Her expertise spans space economics and environmental policy, supported by her previous roles as Romania’s finance minister and various academic appointments.

Anca Elena Balasoiu, Centrul de Leadership și Inovare și Pur și Simplu Verde

Anca Elena Balasoiu is a Partner at BRP Lawyers in Bucharest, specializing in litigation and various areas of law and a researcher at the Center for Leadership and Innovation. She has been serving as an EU Climate Pact Ambassador since December 2023, working to promote sustainable practices across Europe. Additionally, Anca has been actively involved with the environmental NGO Pur si Simplu Verde since January 2022, focusing on climate action and advocacy. Her educational background includes a Ph D. în Juridical Science, a Master’s degree in Business Law from Romanian American University and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the same institution. Anca’s multifaceted experience in legal practice and environmental advocacy equips her with a unique perspective for moderating discussions on integrating circular and social economy models.
