Track Knowledge Management and Intellectual Capital

Knowledge management (KM) and intellectual capital (IC) have become central pillars of contemporary organizational strategy as economies increasingly shift toward knowledge-intensive activities. Knowledge management refers to the systematic processes through which organizations create, capture, share, and apply knowledge to enhance performance and innovation. Intellectual capital, in turn, represents the intangible value embedded in human expertise, organizational structures, and relational networks. In today’s rapidly evolving environments—characterized by digital transformation, distributed workforces, and accelerated innovation cycles—organizations rely heavily on their ability to mobilize these intangible resources. Effective KM practices enable firms to transform individual know-how into collective capability, while the strategic development of intellectual capital strengthens resilience, competitiveness, and long-term value creation.

Beyond individual organizations, the relevance of knowledge management and intellectual capital increasingly extends to transorganizational landscapes such as inter-firm networks, strategic alliances, innovation ecosystems, and global value chains. In these contexts, knowledge flows across organizational boundaries, and value is co-created through collaboration among diverse actors including firms, universities, research institutes, and public institutions. Managing knowledge and intellectual capital at this broader level requires mechanisms that support trust, shared learning, and coordinated knowledge exchange. Consequently, the ability to orchestrate and leverage distributed knowledge resources has become a key capability for organizations seeking to innovate and adapt within complex, interconnected environments, highlighting the growing importance of KM and IC both within and across organizational systems.
